  1. This has got to be one of the most informative guides to all ages of outdoorsmen and women. The illustrations and information are definately back to the basics.

It is a book for all ages! The way to tie all the knots you can possibly use as well as fly fishing tying information not normally found in the average fishing guides.

All the information needed to rig, locate, or catch any kind of fish you want. It is truly a find, eventhough it is a fairly old edition from 1993, it is the perfect gift for any fisherman or woman. My husband, as well as I, have refered back to it many times for reminders of certain knots and ties.

I feel any fisherman could use this book for reference! It is so full of information!

This is the best fishing publication I have bought in during my 46 years of fishing. Everything and I mean everything you need to know to fish is in this book. Don’t let the price fool you. I have paid much more for fishing books but this is the best I have ever found. Pro’s and Beginners will benefit. People ages 9 to 90 can use this great fishing book. I wish I had found it when I was 9!

  3. When it comes to fising, anglers typically want to get the information they need quickly — knot tying or the common rig for bottom fishing bluegill. This book does provides the information you need quickly without the filler found in many other books of its kind. For this reason I give it a full five stars. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a section in chapter 5 on Catfish (e.g. live bait flathead rigs).

  4. fishing basics is one of those books that every fisherman/women should have. although the book covers the basics, it is well thought out and the illistrations are awesome. it covers every type of fishing. from boat to ice fishing. it also has great sugestions for fishing for any fish. even if you are a fishing export (which i’m not by any means) it’s good to have a book on the basics. i highly recomend it.

This is a good book. It really identifies the best places in a given area to fish. Some of the illustrations can be a little hard to understand due to it being in black and white. The fish identification guide is great, to bad there isnt any writing on actually cooking the fish, this would really round it out. This book would make a great addition to others you may have.
